Spoonbills
Yesterday I finally had the Sunday afternoon off again, so Camilla and I decided to go see some Eurasian Spoonbills (Lepelaar). Camilla did radio-tracking research on Spoonbills for half a year so they are her number one favorite birds.
We heard of about 10 pairs of Spoonbills within a colony of Grey Herons (Blauwe reiger) near Halfweg, between Amsterdam and Haarlem, which was conveniently close.
Upon arrival I was stoked to see that these birds actually breed just 10 meters from the cycling path. This allowed for extreme close-ups. As Camilla took her time to take her notes I gave photography and my old hobby sketching a go again. Below you’ll find the results!
Happy Birding
